We all know that Kombucha makes a wonderful refreshing bottled drink but what else can i do with my Kombucha i hear you say....
well here's a few ideas..
Salad Dressings and Marinades
Kombucha can be used in place of vinegar in most salad dressing and marinade reciepes, summer is coming (don't quote me on that but it should at least try to make an appearance soon!) so why not try spicing up a salad with some dressing made from Kombucha.
Here is a simple blue cheese dressing receipe that you might like to try
What You'll Need:
- 60ml cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Mature Kombucha
- 1/8 teaspoon sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 (4-ounce) package crumbled blue cheese
- 180ml sour cream (or milk kefir)
What To Do:
- In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients except the blue cheese whisk until smooth.
- Add blue cheese and stir to mix well. Serve, or cover and chill until ready to serve
It really is that easy, and very yummy...
For these types of recipes it is best to use mature well fermented Kombucha (that has a strong vinegar flavour to it). If you want to mature some kombucha that you have just made simply bottle it (fermentation bottles with swing lids are best) and store in your usual place until the kombucha has a strong vinegar like twang to it.
Frozen ice lollies
Kombucha can be blended with fresh or frozen fruit or fruit juices to make ice lollies. Once blended simple pour the liquid into an ice lolly mold and freeze. Kombucha ice lollies are amazingly refreshing on a hot summers day!
You can add pieces of fresh fruit and you can also use kefir to make ice lollies to. Simply blend the kefir with fruit or fruit juice and then freeze (suitable for water and milk kefir).
Cocktails
Most cocktail recipes require you to add an acidic ingredient, make Kombucha that acidic ingredient and make some fabulous Kombucha Cocktails
Here's an idea for one but experiment....
Sparkling Mango margareta
Dark Tequila
Orange Juice
Mango Flesh
Kombucha (any flavor)
