Testing the pH of Kombucha
Testing pH is not a requirement for Kombucha brewing. In fact, most home brewers do not test the pH level of their batches. However if deviating from the standard recipe (e.g., use less sugar, use a tea other than black or green tea, etc.), pH can be a good indicator of culturing progress. Ultimately we recommend using good judgment and adhering to a standard recipe when brewing Kombucha Tea. If in doubt, never consume Kombucha Tea that looks, smells, or tastes unpleasant.
