These grains are suitable for any dairy (goats, milk, sheeps milk, cows milk, buffalo milk or camel milk) and a wide variety of nut milks (almond, coconut, soya etc)  and non-dairy milks.
All of Our Milk kefir Cultures are:

  • Our Milk comes from Hook and Son Dairy who are renowned for the quality of their Milk.

Kefir Yogurt is a live yogurt drink that is made with Milk Kefir grains. Kefir yogurt contains far more bacteria and yeast than any other live yogurt you can buy and its simple and easy to make at home.  Home made kefir generally contains vastly more natural bacteria than commercially produced kefir.

Kefir is a living culture, a complex symbiosis of microflora that naturally form grains or cauliflower-like structures (sometimes called plants) in the milk. So far more than 50 strains of bacteria and yeasts have been found in milk kefir worlwide. European kefir typically contains over 20 different bacterial strains.  As the culture ferments the milk these structures grow, creating new grains in the process. Real kefir from live culture is an endlessly self-propagating process

 You will receive a sachet of grains in liquid (to keep them safe on their journey to you) This liquid is provided to keep the grains alive and healthy on their journey to you. 10g of grains will brew you 500ml every 24-48 hours and you can brew more once they grow.

Once received all Live kefir grains require settling as they adjust to there new environment (they are very temperature sensitive) this takes between 3-5 brews. Once settled they will make yummy kefir everyday. The grains grow VERY quickly so you can quickly increase the volume you brew if desired as your grains naturally grow and replicate themselves, although it may not seem like you get much the grains pack a powerful punch and having too many grains when you start brewing is not helpful. You will receive access to our online resources including instructions, videos and our blog with helpful hints and tips and full email support. We do not just send you the grains and leave you to get on with it, we are here to help you begin your brewing journey.

Currently we are not experiencing any major delays from any of our delivery partners but as we head into the busy Christmas period that may change.  There are some delays in specific regions so please do check in your area

Packaging:

As we sell a lot of glass and fragile items we do have to use a great deal of packaging. We do try to keep it to a minimum BUT we would rather your item arrived in one piece than be mean with the packaging. 

HOWEVER all of the packaging that we use is either recycled, can be recycled or is biodegradable. The only exception to this is the tape we use which is made from PVC and needs to be thrown in the normal waste.

Boxes-Our boxes are made from recycled cardboard and can be recycled

Bubblewrap- This is Biodegradable

Packing peanut-These are biodegradable

Culture Packaging-Plastic but it can be recycled*

If you purchase an item that we have not physically made (ie from Kilner or Kefirko) we cannot guarantee the internal packaging is plastic free but we do encourage our suppliers to use as little plastic as possible.   

*all culture packaging has been audited and passes Organic standards.

Please note: it is your responsibility to ensure that the address you have given us correct. Our website sends your address exactly as you input it into Royal Mail to produce the delivery label. We cannot amend an address once an order has been dispatched. If you need us to change an address then please give us a call on 01323 730091 (Mon-Fri 9am-4.30pm) please do not sent the request by email. We will try our best to amend address's where we can but we cannot always guarantee that we will be able to. 

We use DPD or Royal Mail as our standard shipping method. You will be informed of the progress of your order via email or SMS depending on the details you have given us. We will provide the courier with your email address or mobile number and they will contact you with delivery information, this email/text message also contains the information needed to rearrange or alter the delivery. 

Dispatch times:

 We advise that it can take 1-7 working days to dispatch orders ,Where we can we will dispatch more quickly and occasionally it may take a little longer, 

We will try to get orders dispatched as quickly as possible but  due to the nature of the goods we supply plus supply chain issues at the moment as well as the volume of orders and staff shortages it is not instant.

Royal Mail Surcharges:

Where items are returned to the sender for the below reasons, you will be charged a standard rate by Royal mail to return the item back to us (£5.95) These charges will be taken from any refund issued. 

  • Undelivered items that have not been collected, nor a Redelivery arranged within the 18-day holding period
  • Incorrect/incomplete address
  • Recipient moved (gone away)
  • Recipient refused

Please ensure your address details and contact details are correct as once Royal mail has issued charges we cannot get them refunded.

If your order arrives broken or damaged then please inform us straight away and take photographs of the damage and packaging. Once we have received photographs of the damaged items we will replace the item as soon as possible. If we do not receive photographic evidence of the damage we will not be able to process a claim and therefore will not be able to offer a refund/exchange.

International Shipping: 

Please note: For customers importing into the EU you may face import duties or VAT and handling charges when you import from the UK. We are not responsible for paying these charges. As the IOSS system is not fully implemented in all member states you will have to pay VAT on goods. Once the EU's IOSS system is fully implemented by all member states we will be switching to that system. As it is currently not available in every member state we are not using it yet. 

PLEASE NOTE: IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT WHAT YOU ARE ORDERING IS LEGALLY ALLOWED INTO YOUR COUNTRY.

Glassware
Please note that we don't ship glass bottles and demijohns or porcelain Crocks overseas unless you are happy to accept responsibility for any breakages. By ordering glassware/crocks you are accepting responsibility.

If you are ordering kefir for international delivery please order dehydrated grains or select a courier delivery rather than international post. This is because we have no control over delivery times with international post. With Most EU countries (outside of this dehydrated grains are a must) international post is generally not an issue as the grains can survive for around 15 days and most deliveries are made in this time however the delivery estimate is just an estimate and as their are so many factors out of our control we cannot guarantee the survival of live grains. We strongly encourage customers to choose the courier option for live cultures. We can only guarantee the dehydrated grains. Whilst this is not something that is generally problematic order live grains at your own risk.

The customer is responsible for ensuring any items ordered can be imported into the destination country and for all applicable paperwork. Happy Kombucha is unable to accept any responsibility for potential customs and importation issues and will not issue refunds. The duties, customs fees, brokerage fees and all other incidental charges are the responsibility of the customer. All items shipped will be accurately labelled for customs purposes including classification as food products. Exterior packaging cannot be removed or altered prior to shipping. We will not knowingly violate customs laws and cannot make exceptions.

 

Please be advised that the courier may look to leave your parcel with a neighbour if you are not at home when they deliver, if you are not happy for this to happen please ensure that you display an opt out sticker available from Royal Mail and notify us in the notes to merchant section of the shopping cart so we can note it on your parcel.
